Maid 2 Clean

Company Information:

Maid2Clean has been providing high quality domestic housekeeping, cleaning & ironing services to thousands of private residential householders since 1993. The services provided range from one-off spring-cleans to the more common regular weekly cleans.

Maid2Clean are a full member of the BFA and were a finalist in the Franchisee Support category at the 2012 bfa / HBSC Franchisor of the Year Awards.

Background:

Maid2Clean wished to exploit a window of opportunity in 2002 by being one of the first domestic cleaning models to enter the franchise market. It was felt at the time having the UK divided immediately would ensure that any enquiry could be dealt with as soon as it came in. This method, Overview refer to this as their Turn Key Solution, would ensure the maximum number of territories could be created without interference from potential recruits, who might try and push for more area to be added, when it wouldn’t be necessary.

Solution:

Overview consulted with Maid2Clean with regards to this and produced sample areas to ensure territories would be sized as expected. Once agreed the entire network was created and a postal database with the demographic / household material was provided to supplement the map element. This provided Maid2Clean with the tools to demonstrate the territory extent and demographic content to prospective franchisees. Overview continue to work with Maid2Clean to assist with extraordinary territory adjustments and the production of laminated poster sized maps for franchisees.

Testimonial:

Your Move has used Overview Mapping to provide bespoke franchise territory maps since we began franchising in 2003 and have been delighted with the service and quick turnaround. We enjoy a security protected site to browse or amend our maps which are securely kept. Overview Mapping’s support and advice with mapping has been invaluable and whilst I would not want to make it a habit, I recall asking Overview if they could provide a territory map change on a Saturday evening in order to satisfy a huge contract and was delighted to get an email around midnight on a Saturday with the amended map. That’s what I call pulling out the stops when needed.

Wiltshire Farm Foods

Company Information:

Wiltshire Farm Foods are the UK’s leading frozen meals delivery company that specialises in delivering frozen ready meals to customers’ homes throughout the United Kingdom. The majority of the business is operated on a local or regional basis by approximately 70 franchisees. Uniformed drivers in liveried refrigerated vehicles deliver pre-ordered meals to private clients, who typically are aged over 70. Established in 1992 the company is owned by Apetito and currently supplies services to over 200,000 customers.

Background:

Overview started working with Wiltshire Farm Foods over 10 years ago. The initial remit was based on a Turn Key Solution with the territories created to be heavily weighted depending on their core market (people aged over 70). Wiltshire Farm Foods were also keen to use Overview’s skills and services to produce maps and data to assist franchisees with understanding the exact content of their territories and help focus their marketing.

Solution:

Overview developed a franchise territory network for Wiltshire Farm Foods that in the main is still being used today. Outputs were produced when the initial division was completed and Overview continues to maintain the network’s territories and provide maps and data for the client in various forms. In recent years Overview has helped to create a series of analysis maps to show each franchise areas best and worst performing sections. Wiltshire Farm Foods occasionally request bespoke pieces of analysis to be done to assist with strategic planning, using data that they have collated and Overview help them visualise this.

Testimonial:

Wiltshire Farm Foods continue to enjoy great value from the work undertaken on our behalf by Overview Mapping. We receive excellent visual reporting which really helps us and franchisees when developing an individual business plan. Water Babies

Company Information:

Water Babies is the UK’s leading baby swim school, teaching a core skill to thousands of babies & children every week which can potentially save their life.

Water Babies began back in 2002, thanks to Paul and Jess Thompson who were inspired by how much they loved taking their own daughter, Imani, to lessons. Since then it’s grown to become the world’s largest baby swimming company, teaching more than 32,000 children each week across the UK, Ireland and Sydney, Australia through a network of 51 franchisees.

Background:

Once Water Babies decided they wanted to use franchising as a means to grow their business, Overview were tasked with helping them to develop a network of franchise territories. The initial requirement was for 2 individual areas to be created in order to satisfy the keen initial recruits. Following on from this Water Babies realised that they would likely require the entire UK to be mapped out so that potential future enquiries could easily be dealt with.

Solution:

Overview utilised specific demographic data based on what provided a demand base for the business to succeed, along with potential site locations for classes, to develop a UK wide model. This framework would provide the basis for all future territory allocations. Overview then provided the postal breakdown with associated demographics for each territory along with a series of maps to depict the division. Overview continue to work closely with Water Babies by dealing with ad hoc requests and have also helped with the mapping of territories in locations outside of the UK including Madrid in Spain and areas of Australia.

Testimonial:

We have an excellent working relationship with Overview, and have done since we started franchising almost 10 years ago. Overview’s expertise and reputation are the key reasons why we initially decided to work with them in order to help create our network. We continue to seek advice, as well as obtain maps and map related outputs from Overview and look forward to developing our relationship as we continue to grow.

Business Doctors

Company Information:

Established in 2004 by Rod Davies and Matthew Levington, Business Doctors is not a consultancy, but a business health improvement service. Business Doctors specialise in helping SMEs develop and implement strategies to help them grow. Business Doctors are NOT coaches, but experience business people, who get on the pitch and help their clients grow their businesses.

Background:

Business Doctors contacted Overview back in 2008 in order to assist them with setting up equal opportunity franchise territories. Being a B2B operation, Business Doctors realised the need to use up to date business material to help delineate the areas.

Solution:

Business Doctors opted for the Turn Key Solution as the model had already been successfully proven in the period running up to the decision to franchise. Overview built Business Doctors a division which is currently used as the framework for the sale of regional franchise areas. Due to the nature of the enquiries that Business Doctors were receiving they asked Overview to look at developing a local area network within the regional areas. After consultation between Overview and the Business Doctors an agreed criteria was set and a preferred route of developing local area territories on an ad-doc territory creation basis was established.

Testimonial:

Jon Newsum-Smith and the team at Overview have been integral partners for Business Doctors now for some 5 years. They have been instrumental in developing the strategy, and in particular, in the recruitment of Franchisees. We have experienced unprecedented growth within the last 18 months, and Jon has been consistently able to deliver the necessary marketing collateral, at short notice, accurately and on demand.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Overview to any potential Franchisor.

Pyjama Drama

Company Information:

Pyjama Drama was created in 2005 by Sarah Owen, an experienced drama teacher who saw, time and time again, the immense benefits that children derive from drama, movement, music and play. It was an immediate success and now Pyjama Drama is expanding rapidly and being delivered in towns across the UK.

Pyjama Drama are passionate about providing young children with drama classes that are not only fun and exciting, but which also develop key social skills such as confidence, concentration, co-operation and creative problem solving.

Whilst relatively new to the franchise market they have an ever expanding network with franchisees coming from a variety of backgrounds.

Pyjama Drama is an associated member of the British Franchise Association.

Background:

In 2010 thanks to a growing number of franchisee enquiries Pyjama Drama sought advice from Overview into establishing a cost effective solution to create territories. Like many franchisors when Pyjama Drama started actively franchising they managed to get by with data freely available or cobbled together systems. What they were looking for was something that would give them the confidence to know that an area would be viable but at the same time that they were not giving away too much area. Ultimately Pyjama Drama wanted to instil confidence in the prospective franchisees that they had gone about this in a professional manner to validate their credibility.

Solution:

Whilst Pyjama Drama saw the benefit of undertaking the Turn Key Solution by having the entire UK divided up all in one go they wanted to prove the model further and initially have a more flexible approach to start with. The added benefit of this was to minimise initial costs, something that all new franchisors have to consider, what with the other important but unfortunately costly elements when setting up a franchise. After a series of ad-hoc areas were generated, and then ultimately operated successfully, the franchise model was proven. At this point Pyjama Drama migrated to the Turn Key Solution to ensure maximised UK coverage and to deal instantly with any franchisee enquiry.

Testimonial:

We have been working with Overview mapping for a number of years and have never looked back. The team’s expertise and on-going support has enabled us to take our business forward in leaps and bounds and we would thoroughly recommend them for their professionalism, attention to detail and friendly approach

Abacus Franchising Company Limited

Company Information:

Abacus is an Associate member of the British Franchise Association (BFA) and is the only accountancy network that is specifically for qualified accountants.

abacus was incorporated in September 2004 and to-date has over 50 accountancy practices in the UK representing the network.

Background:

Overview started working with abacus back in 2004. abacus recognised the benefit of Overview’s close relationship with business database providers, and that this data would prove vital for the underpinning of the franchise territory creation.

Solution:

Overview helped develop a very specific set of criteria so that the territories created would truly reflect an equal opportunity for each incoming franchisee. This criterion was based on the existing customer base of the business and continues to be used today. The success of this criterion is proven by the fact that abacus purchase the business records that sit behind this division which are then used to generate appointments for the franchisees in their territory. Whilst the original project was a Turn Key Solution where the entire UK was divided up, abacus now also utilise the Web Solution. The web solution is used mainly to create maps or hyperlinks for individual territories to show prospective franchisees the territories that are available.

Testimonial:

The appointment of Overview Mapping was a great move for abacus from the very start as it gave potential franchisees the comfort that a specialist company had been used to structure the UK territories, and the assurance they required that there was equal opportunity to develop an accountancy practice whether they purchased the first territory or the last. The breakdown provided by Overview of businesses and business size within each territory gave potential further assurances that there was sufficient business for an accountant within the territory to enable them to develop a thriving practice.

Whilst the success of abacus is not all down to Overview Mapping it has certainly been a huge help in the successful launch and development of the Network.
