Snap On Tools

Company Information:

Snap-on is acknowledged as a leader in the professional tool user market with their tools universally recognised by professionals as the absolute highest quality in the industry. Snap-on Incorporated, the parent company, has a product portfolio of more than 22,000 products, operates in more than 130 countries and employs approximately 11,000 people worldwide as well as having a global network of more than 4,300 franchisees.

Snap-on Tools UK, a subsidiary of Snap-on Inc, was founded in 1965 with its first branch in Kettering, Northamptonshire. A little over a decade later, Snap-on Tools had over 100 UK dealers operating from four branches and today, they has over 400 franchises operating in both the UK and Ireland providing tooling solutions to the UK Automotive aftermarket.

Background:

Overview first worked with Snap-on UK just after the turn of the millennium. Snap-on’s territories were defined by written descriptions and visualised by individual paper maps at various scales. These were then transferred manually on to master maps held at branch level and maintained from then on at this level. Having such a large network of franchisees, within in a three tier territory model, made the task of maintaining territory boundary accuracy and integrity difficult. Snap-on required this data to be maintained centrally, and in a digital form to ensure that the UK geography was being fully utilised and avoid the potential pitfalls of having gaps, or even worse overlaps. With the Internet becoming more important element of the sales revenue stream Snap-on also required a solution to allocating sales to the correct franchisees.

Solution:

Overview assisted Snap-on by digitising the entire territory network and then maintaining this centrally via an online system. This solution would also provide the building blocks for a bespoke postcode look up system to allocate sales to the correct franchisees. Over the last few years this solution has undergone radical changes as a result of Overview’s development in their web solutions offering. When territory changes occur, whether they be physical boundary ones or franchisee names / contact numbers, they are instantaneously reflected in the web service results to ensure data integrity and accuracy.

Your Move

Company Information:

Your Move is the largest single estate agency in the UK. With a national network of nearly 300 branches, a number of which are franchised owned, they have excellent market coverage.

Your Move was recently awarded Franchise of the Year in the Negotiator Awards.

Background:

Overview first started working with Your Move back in 2003. At the time Your Move wanted to explore the possibility of dividing the UK into as many viable areas as possible. Utilising the existing store information would prove paramount in dictating the required contents and characteristics of a territory. Despite a criteria being defined, after detailed discussions it was decided that working on a case by case basis would prove to be the better option for the development of the franchise network. This would allow for territories to be created that would cover natural neighbourhoods and ultimately be better franchise propositions.

Solution:

As a result of the eventual chosen route for territory creation Overview became the supplier of a number of map solutions for Your Move. Initially this manifested itself as a hard and soft copy map for use within the franchise agreement. Alongside this a bespoke poster sized wall map was created for each franchisee for display in their office or assist with planning/marketing. Your Move later decided to add on the web solution that Overview offers to provide a central location to view all of their territories in one system, and possibly more fundamentally, aid the process of creating new areas around the existing network.

Signs Express

Company Information:

Background:

Signs Express were one of Overview’s very first franchise customers. 12 years on Overview continue to provide services to the franchisor. With Overview’s advice and guidance Signs Express wanted to develop a territory network by utilising business material to ensure areas of equal opportunity were created. Signs Express required some form of a way of accessing or producing individual maps for use in franchise agreements.

Solution:

Initially Overview helped develop a territory network fitting around the existing franchise areas. Utilising Overview’s access to up-to-date business material was critical into developing areas that have stood the test of time. Signs Express have gone on to expand their network into Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland, both of which Overview have undertaken the division for. Overview have also historically provided printed and digital maps for individual territories but Signs Express now utilise the Web Solution to obtain these outputs.

Tax Assist

Company Information:

TaxAssist Accountants are a nationwide network of over 190 franchised accountancy practices providing a comprehensive range of tax and accountancy services to the small business sector.

TaxAssist Accountants are a full BFA member and were awarded the Franchisor of the Year Gold Award by the BFA back in 2010. More recently they won ‘Best Large Franchisor’ and ‘Best Training & Support’ in 2012 at the Best Franchise Awards.

Background:

TaxAssist contacted Overview in 2011 when they were looking into developing their brand internationally. Their current mapping supplier could not offer them a financially viable solution so they were keen to find out if there was anything that Overview could do to help.

Solution:

Despite the international expansion plans having no definitive date for moving ahead TaxAssist chose to shift mapping supplier to Overview anyhow. Other than the obvious benefit of the system being more cost effective, they also noted that the additional functions of the Overview’s web solution could be of huge benefit to them. Once the international expansion starts TaxAssist will benefit from having this information within the web solution therefore avoiding the costs and hassle associated with it being in a separate system.

Premier Sport

Company Information:

Premier Sport is the leading children’s coaching company in the UK, successfully delivering coaching to more than 150,000 children every week. Premier Sport is dedicated to developing innovative sports coaching which will help children live a healthy, fun and fit life.

Premier Sport is a full member of the BFA and currently has over 90 franchisees covering various areas of the country.

Background:

Premier Sport’s initial franchisee’s areas had tended to be delineated following roads, rivers or other local boundaries. Premier Sport then realised the benefit of using postal boundaries and swapped to using this from then on wherever possible. Premier Sport approached Overview looking for a system that could deal with their existing franchise territory network and needed for these all to be mapped into a single system. The end goal would be to have a solution to help the development of their network moving forwards.

Solution:

Overview worked closely with Premier Sport by replicating the existing postal territory network for them and hosting this via their web solution. Premier Sport then transferred the remainder of the non-postal territories on to the system to get the network up to date via a very simple interface. Having been exposed to the benefits of the Web Solution Premier Sport then asked Overview to create the remainder of the UK network, using an agreed set of parameters, and host this on their account via the web solution. Premier Sport now utilise this created network around their existing areas as a base for developing new areas, but retain the ability to make adjustments if needed.
